Google has made it so you can no longer type a bunch of words that have nothing to do with anything and get good rankings. You need to be aware of what your website is saying, how it is being said and which ways will not punish you for bad SEO practices. The Internet is booming and people are searching for answers every day. They want good, factual information that is not just something that has been reached a million times. This is where advanced SEO technology comes into play.
New Information
A lot of times, someone will type in a few words in the search bar, hoping to find the absolute answer to what they need to know. The results offer thousands of options to choose from but unfortunately most of them say the same thing, just in different words. If you really want to have people swarming to your website and staying there, give them something new. You will probably have to do a lot of research and formulate new ideas from what you have read, but this is what people want.
More Than Just Sales
It seems like no matter what it is you search for, the top results are sites trying to sell you something. It is all good that you are in business to make money and sell things, but use your website to give more than product descriptions. Do not just go on about how great an item is, explain it, give examples and be willing to help them understand why they need it and how to use it. Do not just tell them the features of a product; have a few pages that will give them information on the general subject. The more it seems like you know what you are talking about, the more people will trust and buy from you.
Keyword Stuffing
It can be very frustrating to try and read information when every other sentence has a keyword phrase that is grammatically incorrect. It also makes you seem less respectable if your website cannot put together an article that does not read like a 2nd grader wrote it. You do not have to use $100 dollar words or make long sentences that surmise things and cover a bunch of alternatives, just use the words people understand correctly. Use phrases that relate to a keyword or mean the same thing. People may not know how to explain a concept or item, but they can tell when it is being done wrong.
Do Not Be Too Stuffy
People want to be able to read what you have to say without having to try and decipher the meaning. Use a bit of humor; add in some fun. You are not trying to write a doctoral thesis, you are trying to get an idea across to the average person. Not everything should be a how-to guide either. While there may be times you just want to inform everyone how to get something done, you should also have some commentary going along with it.
Search Engine Optimization is not what it used to be. Search engines are getting smarter and know when you are just tossing in words to get attention. Getting ranked high is a good thing, but if people do not stay on your page long enough to read all you have written, you are not going to be getting many sales. You need to keep them interested and earn their trust. Think about how you would talk to a customer on the phone and go from there. Give them the answers they are looking for and then talk about them buying from you. No one likes a hard core salesperson, don’t let your website be one.
